Rev. Harry Carroll

Rev. Carroll was born in Enfield, NC, where he spent his entire childhood through high school. He completed his undergraduate studies at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC, earning a B.S. degree in chemistry and mathematics. After graduation, Rev. Carroll accepted a job with DuPont where he held several positions within the technical and managerial sectors. While answering the Call to the pulpit ministry, Rev. Carroll retired from DuPont after completing thirty-three and a half year’s of service. In 2005, he graduated from Shaw University Divinity School in Raleigh, NC earning the Master of Divinity Degree.

Rev. Carroll is the proud father of one son, Gary who lives in Bowie, Maryland with his wife Melanye and their two daughters, Cayla (9 years old) and Celina (6 years old).

Rev. Carroll is an ordained minister of the United Church of Christ and serves on the Board of Directors of the Eastern North Carolina Association of the Southern Conference of the United Church of Christ.

Rev. Carroll was a member at Shiloh UCC in Fayetteville, NC from 1990 to 2011, where he served as Lead Associate Minister for eight years. He was also actively involved in several ministries: a member and founder of the Annual Shiloh Career Day program, a charter member of the SUCC Annual Men’s Conference, Sunday School Co-Superintendent, and first Director of the Shiloh Christian Aid Society (SCAS).  Before relocating to Raleigh in 2008, Rev. Carroll frequently volunteered in the Fayetteville community, participating in various Christian Community Development initiatives. In addition, he often served as a substitute teacher in the Cumberland County school system.

Rev. Carroll joined Pope's Chapel UCC in February 2011.

Regarding ministries, Rev. Carroll’s belief is:

When ministries are developed from a biblical basis, the potential for coming into the same heart, and mind increases. God's Word is the standard, not tradition, or a certain leader's perspective. The Spirit of God works through scripture to convict and equip. If a ministry is truly based on the Bible, the Spirit of God has what is needed to unify hearts.
